Work and Fun – Mixing them successfully in Win 7
August 16, 2009
So far, we talked about the numerous possibilities in Windows 7 and all of the benefits from the preinstalled programs. Unquestionably, they all make work a lot easier for the users. But what is work without some fun? Listening to good music or watching movies from time to time and without any hustle could lead toward stress free productive work.
Users from previous versions of the operating system Windows had a lot of problems trying to find the right codec or player in order to listen or watch multimedia files. With Windows 7, all of those issues belong to the past.
Windows Media Player has been a constant companion in every Windows. Reaching the twelfth version, it has become one of those programs we gladly use for most of our multimedia needs. Even from the eleventh version, that was included in Vista, we have used WMP for playing our music and video files, ripping our favorite CD’s, or organizing files in the media library. In Vista, or in any of the older OS, we had to download and install all kinds of codec-packs (such as the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack) so that we could play our music or videos. Well, from now on, no more.
The newest, twelfth version of Windows Media Player, that comes preinstalled with Windows 7, has not undergone many changes concerning the design. Basically, the skin color is lighter and the positions of some buttons from the interface have been changed. Others, such as the active playlist Now Playing button, have been removed from the interface. Despite these cosmetic changes, users, both old and new, should have no trouble playing and organizing their favorite media files.
As mentioned before, the number of formats supported in Windows 7 has been considerably increased. Without additional installation of codecs and/or other applications, you will be able to play DivX, Xvid, H.264, MOV, 3GP, AAC and many other multimedia formats. This is just one of the many multimedia obstacles that have been successfully removed in Windows 7.
All things considered, the new Windows Media Player 12 has been greatly improved and it offers positive experience and simplified navigation throughout the files. We should also mention the new Play To feature that enables you to play and stop music or video on another machine with Windows 7 installed, another compatible device, or even Xbox 360.
