Windows 7 is Internet ready

The internet is no more considered as a choice or a privilege to just a particular group of people. Nowadays, the internet has become a need, a constant inexhaustible source of information and more. It has become a platform for business and a way of life for many people that work in different corporations. This is why it’s important to familiarize with all kinds of software that can allow us normal and beneficial work on the Internet.

Internet browsers – There is a public, one decade long war going on between Microsoft on one hand and the anti-monopoly organizations on the other concerning Microsoft’s Internet Explorer that comes preinstalled with each version of Windows. By offering internet browser by default, the competitive programs come second. Due to these disagreements, some think it’s for the best if Windows 7 was released without any previously installed internet browser. Others, such as the developers at Redmond, find it wise to distribute Windows 7 in a way that allows users to choose which browser to download and install. We decided to distance ourselves from this ruckus, and instead test and describe the current versions of the most known web browsers. Let’s start with the most apparent choice – The Internet Explorer 8. No one even thought that this browser couldn’t be compatible with Windows 7. It worked impeccably; it even had faster response time, which was not the case with Opera or Mozilla Firefox. Firefox 3.5 beta installed and worked OK in Windows 7, but the speed while browsing was considerably less than the speed while browsing in IE 8. The same happened while testing Opera 10. We also installed developer versions of the browser Chrome. The installations went smooth, though considerable crashes were registered while running certain tasks. Nevertheless, we strongly believe that the moment Windows 7 and the browser versions are out of the beta phase of testing, all of the problems will belong in the past.

Chat software – Nowadays, if you have internet connection, chatting is probably the most common way of communicating with other PC users. In the beginning, software for chatting could only relay textual messages, but now, you have a lot of interesting features for transferring text, pictures, video and sound. You can do this in real time with one or more than one user connected to each other. Out of the programs we tested, we can single out Google Talk, Miranda, Skype, and of course, Windows Live Messenger. These applications are fully compatible with Windows 7 and work flawlessly in the newest operating system.

Internet Download Manager 5.17
– Is a fully functional download manager that increases download speeds. User-friendly interface will help even a novice user to easily deal with downloading several documents from different destinations. A lot of the tasks have been automated. For example, all of the downloaded documents are automatically sorted in different folders that depend on the file’s extension. All of these folders are created the moment Internet Download Manager is installed. Also, the software does a fine job integrating itself in most of the well-known Internet browsers. What’s more, before initializing download, IDM checks the file for malicious software that may damage your system.

SmartFTP 3.0 Build 1043 – This client for uploading and downloading data by using FTP protocol is well-known among the users that prefer easier connection to a server in order to share files by the process of downloading and uploading. It’s also much loved by web developers that want their product to be visible from any place. And as the software’s logo “Compatible with Windows 7” implies, you won’t come across any errors while running it in Windows’ newest system.
