Windows 7 in action!
September 14, 2009
As the date for the official release of Windows 7 is drawing near, this OS has become more and more awe-inspiring to the users who have been actively using its beta version, or the hardware manufactures (we wrote in one of our previous articles how some manufactures have already prepared machines capable of fully utilizing the possibilities of Windows 7). We also mentioned about the multi-touch support in Windows 7 as one of the best implemented features in Windows 7. So it was just a question of time when some of the manufacturers will start releasing products that will fully support this technology. The first two companies that started promoting intriguing and slightly futuristic all-in-one touch-screen computers for Windows 7 are Medion and Acer.
Medion Touch X9613 has a 24-inch touch screen display with resolution 1920×1080 pixels. The powerful processor Core 2 Quad Q9000 helps toward flawless work with the Surface applications; these applications are specially designed for working in multi-touch environment. GeForce GT240M is in charge of the graphic processes and there is couple of hard disks, each with 500GB capacity. Optical disk reader is equipped to read all media (including Blu-ray), and there is a TV tuner as well.
The machine from Acer is named Aspire Z5610. For better stability and capacity, Aspire Z5610 has 23 inch display, the same hard-disk drive capacity as the Medion’s model and working memory of 8GB DDR3. The processor is Core 2 Quad, but what is surprising is the lack of Blu-ray support, which is a big drawback for a system of the new generation. Without further going into details concerning the hardware of this machine, it’s suffice to say that Windows 7 applications run perfectly and can be controlled by gestures or touching on the screen with great ease.
Both these models are expected to appear soon all across the globe.
And for those that do not want to pay a lot for the previous two models, but would still like a machine that can run Windows 7 as the default operating system, we present the two Samsung’s models – N130 and N140. These two models belong to the class netbook; they have 10.1 inch display, Atom processors and capacity to store data up to 250GB. In order to satisfy the basic needs of the mobile users and provide stable working environment, Samsung has decided to go with Windows 7 Starter Edition. This will allow you surfing on the internet and performing basic tasks with not so demanding applications. These models are expected to be released on the market in September with reasonable prices that will coincide with the opportunities the machines offer.
These are just a few examples. With the release of Windows 7, we expect that in the future manufactures will offer more computers that will have this operating system installed, though from the start it will be possible to purchase a computer with some of the older Windows versions preinstalled. The powerful software will never leave the hardware manufacturers at rest. Now, they sure have fewer arguments for complaining that the operating systems and software packages cannot fully utilize the possibilities of the hardware. Windows 7 is here; it is powerful and it plans to offer the best possible experience to the user of a computer. Any computer.
