Microsoft pull out Family Guy sponsorship
October 28, 2009
Just before the released of Windows 7, Microsoft teamed up with Seth MacFarlane, the creator of the famous variety show to create a special episode of Family Guy to promote Microsoft Windows 7. But unfortunately, after reviewing the content of the episode, Microsoft decided to pull out from sponsoring. So what happened?
Well, apparently Microsoft think that the show doesn’t represent Windows 7 brand very well and discovered it would “include riffs on deaf people, the Holocaust, feminine hygiene and incest.” Microsoft is still one of the sponsor companies, but it’ll not be the main sponsors, so you won’t be bombarded with Windows advertisement when watching the show.
If you have been watching Family Guy, we all knew that the show is not for the kids with all offensive jokes in over 100 of episodes and I don’t know how it bypassed Microsoft radars before approaching the collaboration.
Well at least the fans still get to see the show with less annoying Windows 7 advertisement.
