Windows 7 Shortcut Keys

There are many new features and functions in the new operating system (OS) form Microsoft, Windows 7. If you have been reading up on them, you will know this very well and have probably tried a few of them if you are lucky enough to have Windows 7 installed. In addition to the fancy new bells and whistles, there are also some new shortcuts which you may make use of in the OS. In fact, they are likely to become your preferred manner for completing the functions they allow you to do.

Below is a chart with those shortcuts listed for you. They all use the ‘Windows key’, that small key right between the Ctrl and Alt keys in the lower left-hand corner of your keyboard – some keyboards have another key or two around it, but you cannot miss this one as it has the Windows logo on it. In the text below, it will be represented with a Windows icon.

Key Combination & Function of Shortcut:

Windows + Home -  Minimizes all but the current window

Windows + Spacebar – Preview Desktop – turns all open windows transparent

Windows + Up or Down Arrow - Maximizes or Minimizes / Restores current window

Windows + Left or Right Arrow – Tiles open windows on Left or Right side of display
Windows + P – Automatically chooses Network Projector display mode

Windows + T - Cycles through icons / items on Taskbar

Windows + 1 thru 0 – Launches an application pinned to the Taskbar from the position indicated by the number; access a running application from the Taskbar.

Windows + Alt + 1 thru 0 – Access the Jump List of an application pinned to the Taskbar using the number as an indication of location

Windows + Shift + 1 thru 0 – Launches an application pinned to the Taskbar based on the number as an indication of location

Windows + Ctrl + 1 thru 0 – Will let you access the last active instance of an application pinned to the Taskbar based on the number as an indication of location
